Wednesday February 11, is the Spring 2026 School Count Day for the state of Michigan. Count Day is when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools.
School attendance is important every day, but attendance on Count Day determines school funding and state resources. Count information is critical to districts, because each student translates into state funding.
The count days and school funding are mandated through the State School Aid Act.
The count dates are first Wednesday in October and the second Wednesday in February. 10th grade- Carrah Wimbley & Karlee Gillaspy (Nominated by: Mrs. Tejchma)
The girls were so kind and helpful in the Choir room. They picked up and stacked every chair. Thank you girls for your help.

11th grade- Jairo Lorenzo-Reyes (Nominated by: Mr. Whitman)
Jairo was seen in the hallway stopping to help another student clean up some things that they dropped.

12th grade - Bryson Prillwitz (Nominated by: Mr. Aranda)
Bryson found a students class ring and brought it to the office so it could be returned.

The wrestling team has a busy weekend.

The girls attended the Southwest Girls Wrestling Conference tournament where they competed against wrestlers from the Wolverine Conference, the SAC, the SMAC, the I-8, and other Southwest 10 schools.

Taliyah Mendoza took home a medal placing 4th in the 140lb weight class and Emma Hartline took home a medal with a 4th place finish in the 155lb weight class.

On Saturday the boys traveled to Comstock for the Southwest 10 individual tournament.

Mason Whitman ended the day with a 2nd place in the 120lb bracket
Mason Mireles finished in 3rd place in the 190lb bracket.
Josh Dyson finished in 3rd place in the 285lb bracket.
