Daily Announcements – Tuesday, May 7th, 2019


Last week’s students of the week have been chosen.  Ninth Grade is Valentin Arizpe, Tenth Grade is Karlee Scherer, Eleventh Grade is Trey Goodson, and Twelfth Grade is Carlye Peters.  Please come to the office now to receive your certificate and have your pictures taken.


Congratulations to Deanna Perez for winning 1st place in the Van Buren District Libraries Cover Design Competition.  Her art will be featured on the cover of the book with all the winning submissions.


The girls' track team continued to show improvement Friday at the Bangor Invitational, with the Lady Indians earning medals in five events.  Leading the way was Kashaya McCoy with a first place in the 300 meter hurdles, taking second was the 400 meter relay team of Solis, Heminger, VanLandingham and McCoy, Earning thirds were Nautica Covington in the Shot Put, the 3200 meter relay team of Kuehnle, VanLandingham, Janicki, and Smith, and capturing a fourth was the 800 meter relay team of Smith, Heminger, Janicki, and Rondo. Congratulations ladies!  The Indians will travel to Cassopolis this afternoon to take on the Rangers and White Pigeon.


The girls' track team traveled to Cassopolis yesterday for a double dual with the Rangers and White Pigeon.  In the meet with Cass the Lady Indians came out on top 84-38, while defeating White Pigeon 79-40.  Marissa Solis was a double winner in the 100 and 200 meter dash, Kashaya McCoy took first in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.  Other athletes taking firsts were Nautica Covington in the shot put, Jasmin Janicki in the mile, Gillian Kuehnle in the 400 , Brittney Vanlandingham in the 800, and Jamie Smith in the 3200.  All four relay teams were winners.  Hartford will travel to White Pigeon tomorrow for a re-match with White Pigeon while also taking on Bangor.


The Lady Indians Soccer team traveled to New Buffalo and came away with at 5-0 win. Abigail Lopez scored 3 goals, Brianna Morseau and Madison Hays scored 1 goal each. Madison Hays had one assist, Mercedes Requenes 2 assists and Brianna Morseau 1 assist. Sarahi Garcia ended the night with 3 saves.


Prom is this weekend, and everyone is invited to the Grand March at 3pm in the HS Auditorium. Those attending Prom, come out to show off those gorgeous dresses and tailored tuxes. Give your family and friends a chance to take pictures and see everyone off before dinner and a night of dancing. Everyone is welcome, see Mrs Manning with any questions.


Seniors, we will be taking your group class picture on Thursday May 9th at the beginning of 4th hour!  This is for the newspaper, our Facebook page, and the yearbook.  Please make sure you are at school on this day!!
